What is the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship?

The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections, so that they get better opportunities for higher education and employment. The scholarship is for students studying in India, in a Government or Private college or university.

It also covers technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Industrial Training Centres affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), as well as integrated courses after Class 12. There are two types of scholarship: General Scholarship (after Class 12 or a diploma) and Special Scholarship (after Class 10).

The scholarship is provided for the entire duration of the course, excluding the internship or stipendiary period, as long as the student keeps meeting the renewal conditions. The first instalment becomes due on 1 September 2026 and the second instalment on 1 February 2027. The amount is transferred to the scholar’s bank account through NEFT.

General and Special Scholarship: who can apply

General Scholarship (after Class 12 or a Diploma)

  • You passed the Class XII exam (or its equivalent) with at least 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA in the academic year 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26.
  • You have taken admission in the 2026-27 academic year to the first year of a degree course in Medicine (MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BDS), Engineering (BE, BTECH, BArch), Graduation in any discipline, Integrated courses, a Diploma course in any field, or equivalent or Vocational courses, through a government-recognised college or institute, or a course in an ITI.
  • Your parents or guardian have an annual income (from all sources) not exceeding Rs. 4,50,000.

Special Scholarship (after Class 10)

  • You passed the Class X exam (or its equivalent) with at least 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA in the academic year 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26.
  • You have taken admission in the 2026-27 academic year to the first year of Intermediate / 10+2 pattern, or a Vocational or Diploma course, through a government-recognised college or institution, or a course in an ITI.
  • Your parents or guardian have an annual income (from all sources) not exceeding Rs. 4,50,000.

Important rules and conditions

  • The scholarship is not meant for post-graduation studies. However, integrated courses that combine graduation and post-graduation are eligible for the entire duration of the course.
  • Shortlisting and final selection are done on merit, based on the percentage of marks obtained in Class 12 or Class 10, as applicable.
  • In case of a tie in marks, preference goes to the student whose parents have the lower income.
  • Candidates who are already receiving a scholarship from another Trust or institution are not considered. Scholarships from the Government (State or Central) are allowed.
  • Courses in correspondence, part-time (evening or night) or open universities are not eligible, and self-study courses such as CA, CS and Cost Accountant (ICMAI) are not eligible.
  • Candidates who pass any subject with grace marks, or who clear a failed subject in a later semester, are not eligible, even if they reach the required percentage.

Important dates for the 2026-27 cycle

  • Online applications open for the 2026-27 academic year.
  • Original last date (as per the scheme document): 30 September 2026.

  • First instalment of the scholarship becomes due: 1 September 2026.
  • Second instalment becomes due: 1 February 2027.

Each LIC Division selects 40 male and 40 female General scholars and 20 boys and 20 girls Special scholars. There are 112 LIC Divisions, and applications are routed to a Division based on the applicant’s address PIN code.

How to apply for the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026

  1. Open the official LIC website and click the application link for the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2026.
  2. Fill the online application form with your personal details, academic marks, family income and bank account details.
  3. Submit the form before the deadline. You will receive an acknowledgement email at the email address you provide – the LIC Divisional Office named in that email handles all further correspondence.
  4. Candidates who pass the preliminary assessment are contacted for physical document verification, where LIC officials authenticate your marks and income documents. Documents authenticated by any LIC Branch In-charge are accepted.
  5. Once verified, the scholarship amount is credited to the scholar’s bank account through NEFT.

Keep the bank account active and make sure the account details and IFSC code are correct, because the instalments are paid only by NEFT.
