Fellowship and financial support

- All financial support is subject to availability of funds, the applicable scheme guidelines and satisfactory performance.
Assistantship duty for selected scholars
Full-time PhD scholars and Postdoctoral Fellows selected under the scheme must contribute 40 hours per month towards institute activities. At least 10 of those hours go to administrative assistantship, and the rest may be assigned to teaching assistantship or other academic and institute responsibilities as decided by the competent authority.
Eligibility criteria
Full-time PhD
- M.E./M.Tech./MCA/M.Sc. or an equivalent degree in relevant disciplines, with a valid GATE/NET score or qualification through a national-level selection process conducted by IIIT Dharwad or any other recognised national-level examination.
- Minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0 for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 5.5 for SC/ST/PwD candidates, or a minimum of 60% marks for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% for SC/ST/PwD candidates in aggregate.
- Candidates holding B.E./B.Tech./MCA degrees may also be considered for direct PhD admission as per the applicable institute norms.
- Reservation applies as per Government of India norms.
Part-time PhD
- The same educational qualification as the full-time PhD programme.
- The candidate must be an employed professional working in industry, an R&D organisation or academia.
- A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer is required as per institute requirements.
Postdoctoral Fellowship
- A PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Strong research credentials demonstrated through quality publications and/or patents.
- Age 40 years or below, subject to the applicable provisions of the scheme.
