What is the Manchester Global Futures Scholarship?
The Global Futures Scholarship is the University of Manchester’s flagship international recruitment award for the 2027 entry. Manchester says the programme offers more than 350 awards in total, worth more than £6 million across undergraduate and master’s study – and the master’s stream alone offers more than 250 merit-based scholarships to international students from a range of countries.
For students domiciled in India the master’s award is £12,000. It is not paid in cash: it is applied as a discount on your published overseas tuition fees. The university says awards are made on academic merit and the quality of the application, while trying to balance the cohort by gender, domicile and course.
Scholarship value: what the £12,000 covers
- The value of the Global Futures Scholarship for Indian master’s applicants is £12,000.
- It is a tuition-fee discount on published overseas fees, not a cash payment and not a maintenance grant.
- The master’s awards are merit-based – there is no fixed number reserved for any one course.
- The Indian master’s awards are allocated across two rounds: 50% are offered by 15 March 2027 and the remaining 50% by 1 June 2027.
- Applicants who miss out in the first round are automatically reconsidered in the second round – you do not need to re-apply.
Eligibility: who can apply
To be considered for the master’s Global Futures Scholarship for Indian students, you must:
- Be an international fee-paying student domiciled in India. Manchester treats you as domiciled in India if you have predominantly lived there during the last three years – living abroad only for full-time education does not count.
- Hold a conditional or unconditional offer to study a full-time, on-campus master’s course starting in September 2027 by 25 April 2027.
- Submit the online scholarship application form by 25 April 2027. The form is emailed to all eligible offer-holders once an academic offer is made.
- Be self-funded – students who are sponsored by an employer, government or other body are not eligible.
- Study on a programme delivered at Manchester’s UK campus (not blended or distance learning).
The scholarship is not available for the MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture and Urbanism MA, Architecture and Digital Design MA, Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), PGCE, or Clinical Medicine and Dentistry degrees, and some Master’s by Research courses are also excluded. Applicants who studied their bachelor’s degree outside South Asia are not eligible for the Indian awards.
