Full-time scholars admitted to the M.S. and Ph.D. programmes are eligible for the Half-Time Teaching / Research Assistantship (HTRA), which requires 8 hours of work per week for the Institute. Financial assistance at IIT Palakkad

Assistance is as per MHRD norms. Full-time scholars admitted to the M.S. and Ph.D. programmes are eligible for the Half-Time Teaching / Research Assistantship (HTRA).
HTRA holders have to work for 8 hours per week for the Institute. The work normally involves assistance in teaching or research and is assigned by the Institute.
Renewal of the assistantship every semester depends on enrolment, satisfactory progress in research work and good performance in the teaching or research assistant duty during the preceding semester.
Other scholarships such as UGC-JRF, CSIR-JRF, ICMR, ICAR and AICTE may also be available to candidates who have qualified for them and get admission – the fellowship amount is paid as per the norms of the funding agency.

How to apply for IIT Palakkad MS and Ph.D. admission 2027

Create an account on the research admission portal at resap.iitpkd.ac.in and check your email for the welcome message.
Log in with your email and password and click the Apply button against the MS or Ph.D. programme you wish to join. A separate application is needed for each programme.
Fill your personal details, including the instructions for creating an Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) ID, and then fill your qualification details.
Enter the details of your GATE, UGC-NET or other national level test scores and use the Institute’s CGPA to percentage conversion formula where required.
Upload the required documents and eligibility certificates in the prescribed format. If there are multiple files, merge them into a single file and upload it.
Verify the data in your profile using Preview, make the final submission and pay the application fee.
Download the application after successful payment and keep it for your records.

The portal does not publish a single consolidated eligibility table for the January 2027 session.
