The Radboud Scholarship Programme 2027 is a selective scholarship for international students who want to do a full English-taught Master’s degree at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. For the 2027/2028 academic year it cuts the tuition fee for a non-EU student from about EUR 19,000 to EUR 2,771 and also pays for the visa, residence permit and insurance costs, with a maximum of 22 scholarships on offer across six faculties.
The deadline is the one date to plan around: your application in Radboud’s OSIRIS system must be submitted by 31 January 2027 (23:59 CET), and the file has to be complete by 14 February 2027. Indian students with a non-EU/EEA passport are eligible, provided the Bachelor’s degree was completed outside the Netherlands.

What the Radboud Scholarship actually pays for
The award is a partial scholarship, and it is best understood as a tuition-fee cut plus a set of arrival costs. Radboud University states that a Radboud Scholarship reduces the tuition fee to EUR 2,771 (an amount the university notes is still to be confirmed), where a self-funding non-EU student in the same programme would pay around EUR 19,000. On top of that, the scholarship covers the costs of the visa, the residence permit, health insurance and liability insurance for your stay in the Netherlands through Aon Student Insurance.
What it does not cover is your living and study costs – food, rent, books and daily expenses stay your own responsibility. Radboud is explicit about this, so plan for it when you compare the Radboud Scholarship with a full-ride award. If your Master’s programme runs for two years, the grant is not automatic in the second year: you have to pass all courses of the first year to qualify again.
Who is eligible for the Radboud Scholarship
- You hold a non-EU/non-EEA passport and are not eligible for the lower EU/EEA tuition fee for any other reason.
- You have completed (or will complete) your Bachelor’s degree outside the Netherlands, and you have no degree and no previous education in the Netherlands. Exchange programmes are excluded from this rule only when they were part of the Bachelor’s degree you did outside the Netherlands.
- You meet the English language proficiency requirement of the Master’s programme you are applying for.
- You have been fully admitted to an English-taught Master’s programme starting 1 September 2027, as stated in the formal letter of admission.
- You can comply with the conditions for getting a Netherlands study visa and you will enrol full-time at Radboud University for that academic year and programme.
Two groups are excluded by the programme rules: Erasmus Mundus Master’s programmes and joint-degree Master’s programmes. Every other English-taught Master’s programme at Radboud University is eligible.
How many Radboud Scholarships are available in 2027/2028
A maximum of 22 Radboud Scholarships are available for 2027/2028, and the seats are divided faculty-wise. That distribution matters when you pick a programme, because one faculty has a single seat:

How to apply for the Radboud Scholarship Programme
There is no separate scholarship portal. You apply for the scholarship while you apply for admission to the Master’s programme: in the OSIRIS Application system you indicate that you wish to apply for a Radboud Scholarship, and you then upload three extra documents – two reference letters and a curriculum vitae. If you have already uploaded a CV and references for the admission application, the same documents can be uploaded again for the scholarship.
- Check the Master’s programme you want on the Radboud scholarships overview and confirm the 1 September 2027 intake is open.
- Start your admission application in OSIRIS and tick the Radboud Scholarship option.
- Upload two reference letters and your CV with the application. Radboud prefers academic references and publishes reference-letter guidelines for them.
- Submit the application by 31 January 2027, 23:59 CET. The university then checks the file and sends it back for the handling fee and for any document that is incorrect, illegible or missing.
- Resubmit immediately – the application must be complete by 14 February 2027, 23:59 CET. Incomplete applications are not considered for the scholarship.
One warning from the university itself: admission to the Master’s programme and selection for the scholarship are two separate processes. Getting into the programme does not mean you get the scholarship.

Radboud Scholarship vs NL Scholarship: can you take both?
Yes. Radboud University states that the Radboud Scholarship can be combined with the NL Scholarship (the Dutch Ministry of Education award of EUR 5,000 for non-EU/EEA students).
