Brunel Postgraduate Scholarship 2027: GBP 6,000 Fee Waiver

Brunel University London is giving a GBP 6,000 tuition fee reduction to self-funded international students who join a full-time postgraduate taught or MRes course in September 2026 or January 2027. The award is called the Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate International Excellence Award and, importantly, there is no separate application form – you are considered automatically once you hold an offer, meet the academic criteria and have paid your course deposit.

For the January 2027 intake the advisory deadline is 30 November 2026. That is the date by which every condition must be met and the GBP 5,000 course deposit must have reached Brunel, so the real deadline for Indian applicants is earlier than it looks: the offer, the documents and the bank transfer all have to be finished before the end of November.

The award is worth GBP 6,000 off tuition and it is not a one-off discount for a single term – on a two-year full-time postgraduate taught course or MRes it is applied to both years. It cannot be combined with other Brunel scholarships, but the 2% prompt payment discount and the Graduate Discount still stack with it.

What the GBP 6,000 award covers

  • Value: GBP 6,000 tuition fee reduction. The award is applied against your tuition fees, not paid as cash.
  • It is applied each year for a maximum of one year on a one-year full-time postgraduate taught course or MRes, and for two years on a full-time course that runs over two years (for example a two-year master’s or MRes).
  • The reduction is paid once for each eligible level of study and only if you meet normal progression criteria – it is not paid again if you repeat a year.
  • It cannot be combined with any other Brunel University scholarship, bursary, discount or award. The only exceptions are the 2% prompt payment discount and the Graduate Discount.
  • The fee reduction does not replace the deposit: you still pay the GBP 5,000 course deposit in full, and the award is deducted from the remaining tuition fee at registration.

Who is eligible for the Brunel award

To be considered automatically you must meet all of these conditions:

  1. You must have an offer to study a full-time postgraduate taught (PGT) or MRes programme starting in September 2026 or January 2027 of the 2026/27 academic year.
  2. You must have a minimum UK 2:1 or an equivalent internationally recognised undergraduate qualification – a 60%+ Indian bachelor’s degree with a good classification is the usual benchmark, but Brunel assesses the equivalence itself.
  3. You must be classed as an Overseas fee-paying student under UK government regulations and be fully self-funded. Indian applicants paying overseas fees meet this test.
  4. You must pay the GBP 5,000 tuition fee deposit and the funds must have been received by Brunel by the advisory deadline.
  5. You must meet the entry criteria for the course and meet every condition on your offer.

If you already hold an offer for September 2026 and defer your entry to January 2027 within the same 2026/27 academic year, you keep the award.

Who cannot get this award

The published terms and conditions exclude a clear list of applicants. You are not eligible if:

  • You are not classed as Overseas for fee purposes, or your fee status is unresolved.
  • You are not fully self-funded – applicants sponsored by a government, an employer, the NHS or any external body are excluded. If sponsorship is discovered after the award is made, the award is withdrawn, so sponsored students must tell the Scholarship Team immediately.
  • You are applying for a Postgraduate Research programme (PhD or MPhil), or a PgCert or PGDip course.
  • You are applying for the MSc Physician Associate course at Brunel Medical School.
  • You will not start in September 2026 or January 2027 and plan to defer to 2027/28.
  • You are entering a course with Brunel Pathway College or progressing to a Brunel course from a Brunel Pathway College course.
  • Your course is distance learning, part-time or online learning.

How to apply – there is no application form

  1. Apply for admission to a Brunel full-time postgraduate taught or MRes course for September 2026 or January 2027 and accept the offer.
  2. Check that you meet the UK 2:1 equivalent and that you are an overseas, self-funded student.
  3. Pay the GBP 5,000 course deposit through the payment route in your offer email, in time for the funds to reach Brunel by 30 November 2026.
  4. You are then assessed automatically – Brunel confirms the fee reduction in September 2026 or January 2027, and any eligible discount is deducted from the remaining tuition fee when you register.
  5. If you have already paid your full tuition fees, contact the Student Hub to ask for the fee reduction to be refunded.

Award holders may be asked to act as ambassadors for Brunel during their studies – for example helping at open days, hosting campus tours or taking part in social media and marketing activity. For any question about the award, Brunel asks students to write to [email protected].

Documents and points Indian students should check before the deadline

  • Fee status matters more than nationality. The award follows the overseas fee classification, so an unresolved fee status disqualifies you until it is settled.
  • Sponsored students lose the award. If any part of your tuition is paid by a government body, an employer or another external sponsor, this award does not apply to you.
  • An MRes counts, a PhD does not. Research applicants (PhD, MPhil) are excluded even though they also pay overseas fees – they should look at Brunel’s research funding instead.
  • The deposit is the deadline. Applying early is not enough: the GBP 5,000 must be received by 30 November 2026 for the January intake, so start the transfer with enough buffer for bank and remittance delays.
  • Only one Brunel award. If you are also eligible for another Brunel scholarship or bursary, you will be given the one award – the exception is the 2% prompt payment discount and the Graduate Discount.
