Kent International Scholarships are guaranteed tuition fee discounts for international applicants at the University of Kent, and India is on the list of eligible countries for postgraduate taught courses. The award is worth up to £5,000 for the January 2027 intake, and there is no separate scholarship form to fill in.
What you do need to watch is the course application deadline. Kent’s international admission page lists 27 November 2026 as the application deadline for postgraduate taught and undergraduate courses for the January 2027 intake. Indian applicants are not affected by the earlier September and October cut-offs, which apply only to applicants from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

How much is the Kent International Scholarship worth?
Kent publishes the January 2027 values on its international scholarships page. The amount depends on the course you join:
- Kent Business School taught master’s – £3,000 tuition fee discount.
- All other taught master’s programmes – £5,000 tuition fee discount.
- Undergraduate programmes – up to £5,000.
The award is applied as a tuition fee waiver, which means it reduces the tuition you owe Kent. It is not a cash payment and it is not paid into your bank account.
Who is eligible for the January 2027 award?
For postgraduate taught courses, Kent lists the eligible domiciles as Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Türkiye and Vietnam. The undergraduate offering is listed separately as open to all markets.
Kent describes the scheme as a guaranteed discount: if you meet the criteria, you get the award, and there is no competitive shortlist to clear on top of your course application.
Key dates for the January 2027 intake
- 16 November 2026 – deadline for non-exempt applicants to transfer funds into their UK bank account so the money clears in time for UKVI’s 28-day requirement and the CAS deadline.
- 23 November 2026 – deposit deadline for applicants who pay by bank transfer (Kent’s preferred route is its online store, which includes Flywire).
- 27 November 2026 – application deadline for postgraduate taught and undergraduate courses.
- 11 December 2026 – last date to meet all admission conditions and accept your offer, which means being Unconditional Firm by this date.
- 15 December 2026 – last date to complete all CAS assessment checks in CAS Shield, including paying deposits through the store or Flywire.
- 18 December 2026 – CAS issuance deadline.
- 11 January 2027 – January term starts.
- 25 January 2027 – last registration date.
How to apply for the Kent International Scholarship
- Apply for the Kent postgraduate taught course you want for the January 2027 intake, before 27 November 2026.
- Accept your offer and meet any conditions – Kent requires you to be Unconditional Firm by 11 December 2026.
- There is no separate scholarship application. Kent checks your domicile against the eligible country list and applies the discount.
- Watch your email for the scholarship notification, which Kent says arrives shortly after you accept your offer to study.
- Complete the CAS steps – funds in place, deposit paid, CAS Shield checks finished – so the CAS is issued by 18 December 2026.
What happens after you accept the offer
The scholarship and the visa timeline are two separate things, and the visa timeline is the one that catches people out. Kent’s admission deadlines page sets out a chain: funds in your account by 16 November 2026, bank transfer deposits by 23 November 2026, CAS assessment checks finished by 15 December 2026 and the CAS issued by 18 December 2026, with term starting on 11 January 2027.
Missing a CAS step does not cancel the tuition discount by itself, but it can cost you the January start – and a deferred start can change which intake’s fee and funding rules apply to you.
Undergraduate award for September 2027 entry
Kent also lists a Kent International Scholarship for Undergraduates for September 2027 entry. It is worth up to £5,000 and is applied as a tuition fee waiver: £3,000 in the first stage of the degree and £2,000 when you progress to the second stage. If you study with Kent for only one year, you receive the £3,000 waiver only.
Kent states that further eligibility details and deadlines for the undergraduate award are “coming soon”, so the January 2027 postgraduate award is the one with confirmed dates and values today.
Things Indian applicants should check before applying
- Business School courses carry the £3,000 figure, not £5,000 – check which band your course falls into before you budget for it.
- The waiver reduces tuition; it does not cover living costs, flights, visa fees or the deposit.
- Your domicile, not your passport alone, is what Kent uses for the eligible-country list, so keep your address details consistent across the application.
- The 27 November 2026 course deadline is the real deadline – there is no scholarship form that can be submitted later.
